Mayurbhanj is a district in Odisha that is famous for its rich forest, wildlife, and waterfalls. Among the many waterfalls in Mayurbhanj, there is one that is still unexplored and unknown to many tourists. It is called Chaulabhaja Waterfall, locally known as Chaulibhaja or Holobo Waterfall.
Chaulabhaja Waterfall (Odia: ଚାଉଳଭଜା ଜଳପ୍ରପାତ) is located near Bangalidahi Village, about 35 kilometers from Baripada town of Mayurbhanj. The waterfall falls from a height of 1000 feet, and when it touches the ground, it looks like rice grains. That's why it is called Chaulibhaja, which means fried rice in Odia. The local tribal people call this place Holobo, which means human head in the Mundari language. They believe that the stones around the waterfall resemble human heads.
Chaulabhaja Waterfall is surrounded by lush green trees and rocks, which create a beautiful natural scenery. The sound of the water splashing on the rocks is soothing and refreshing. The waterfall is also home to various birds and animals, which can be spotted by keen observers. The waterfall is accessible by road from Baripada town. One has to walk for about 3.5 km from Bangalidahi Village to reach the waterfall.
Chaulabhaja Waterfall is a hidden gem in Mayurbhanj that offers a peaceful and pleasant experience to its visitors. It is a must-visit place for nature lovers, photographers, and explorers who want to discover the beauty of Odisha.
