Chhenapoda Dibasa (Odia: ଛେନାପୋଡ଼ ଦିବସ) is a day to celebrate the sweetness of Odia dessert, Chhenapoda worldwide. People of Odisha are celebrating this day on 11 April since 2022.
Why Chhenapoda Dibasa?
When we celebrated something for a day or for some days, it gives more impact to that thing. For that reason, we started Rasagola Dibasa in 2015 on Niladribije. And you all know the impact of that.
It was discussed in 2015 to start the Chhena Poda Dibasa and took almost seven years for this.
When is Chhena Poda Dibasa?
After a lot of discussions, it was decided to celebrate the sweetest day on the birth anniversary of Late Sudarsan Sahoo, the inventor of Chhenapoda.
Who is Sudarsan Sahoo?
Sudarsan Sahoo was born on 11 April 1931 in Nayagarh district. In 1947 he had opened his own shop and eventually, he invented Chhena PodaPitha and later named it Chheanpoda.
Political leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Biju Patnaik appreciated Late Sahoo's invention. Later other sweet shops started making Chhenapoda and now it is one of the favorite desserts of Odisha.
