Pancharatha Temple (Odia: ପଞ୍ଚରଥ ମନ୍ଦିର) is a Hindu temple in the Sonpur district. In Odisha, it is a widely regarded temple.
This lovely temple, built in the shape of a chariot, is similar to the Sun Temple of Konark. Here Pancharatha means five carts.
On a single platform, up to five temples might be found. Lord Siva, Ganesh, Kartikeya, and Rishava, as well as Goddess Shakti alias Parvati, are worshipped here.
The most notable characteristic of the temple is that Lord Ganesh's idol faces east, whereas the statue in other Shiva temples faces south.
The Pancharatha Temple is said to have been erected by King Birmitra Singhdeo to honor the death of his son, Prince Somobhusan. However, scholars are currently researching on the temple's past.
